How PRP Hair Treatment is done?
As a non-invasive solution, the PRP therapy is a short 60-90 minute in-clinic visit procedure. The process begins with acquiring a small amount of blood from the patient and placing the blood sample in a special machine that spins the blood at high speeds in order to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood components.
Next, a local anesthetic is applied to the scalp and the concentrated platelet rich plasma is reintroduced into areas of the patient’s scalp that show hair thinning. Finally, microneedling is performed on the scalp to create micro-trauma and micro-channels into the skin, which activates the PRP and allows them to penetrate deep into the skin.
Are there any risk involved?
Because PRP is made from your own blood, there is no chance of allergy or rejection. In addition, the use of amniotic fluid doesn’t cause rejection or allergic reaction when injected into a patient.
DOES IT WORK FOR ALL HAIRLOSS TYPES
It is important that patients are correctly evaluated by a dermatologist or hair expert prior to commencing therapy to determine if they are candidates.
What is the recovery like following the procedure?
Most individuals typically have very little to no swelling; there is always a possibility for swelling along the forehead that could last a few days to a week. You may feel a little bit of tenderness in the scalp for a few days to a week but rarely is this an issue in terms of social and/or professional engagement.
